Thank you for your thoughts and further debunking, what has become in fact, a disincentive to many people improving their health. By believing the Blue Zones story, people lose agency over their future and subconsciously (or consciously) think "well I can never live in a stress free, sun kissed island, tending the land, looking after goats and be in a tight knit community". As you say, if you DYMT and occasionally go to the doc, you can usually reach the ceiling, hopefully in style. Moving the goals posts of what biology programs us to do is a mammoth task. But perhaps for now, getting vast swathes of the population to live to 85-90 in good health will be the best we can do for the coming decades.

As a Public Health specialist and preventive medicine doctor I completely agree with your thesis. Nevertheless, your forget to include Spain as a paradoxical example: one of biggest life expectancy at birth in the world (close to Japan and Singapore) but also a big obesity problem and tobacco use etc. and much worst healthy years over 65.

It is not only wealth and IQ: lifestyle (not only physical aspects of it) and a mindset that tries to reconcile way of living with human nature. The amount of chronic stress in the world is surmounting, as the way of life imposed defers with what humans (their biology) need. This is the forgotten factor that makes a failure any approach based in forcing and stressing biology even more.

I am applying my unique “emotive-biological@ approach to help people gain internal coherence and clarity. Many recover very close to their peak span and those with chronic illness are able to put in place what is needed to achieve wellbeing.
