If you read the Lasker award announcement or my JAMA Viewpoint piece for Lasker then I explain carefully that I lead the invention of liraglutide - the very first long acting GLP1 and the first in obesity and CV benefits and the one that lead to the hypothesis of kidney benefit later shown with semaglutide. For semaglutide I led the pharmacology but I did not invent this molecule. My many papers through the last 10-15 years are focused on the pharmacology understanding. Latest papers focused on understanding the weight loss independent effect in the liver (nature medicine 2025) and inflammation benefits in the brain (just out in Nature Comms).
